I have enjoyed taking some evening photography classes (technical as well as creative) over the years in order to develop my photographic skills. Since the advent of digital photography, my skills have really improved since you immediately know if you exposed correctly or not, and you can make modifications accordingly. You could say I am a self-taught photographer with a little help.
My portfolio consists of a variety of subjects such as landscapes, flowers, macro, events, nature, infrared, night, seasonal and some portraits. I also take photos of whatever might catch my attention at that specific moment. Never leave home without my camera, and when I do, I usually regret it! My photos have been exhibited at a variety of places.
It started with the Kingston Photographic Club’s annual exhibition several years ago, then on to the Women’s Art Festival, the Xanadu Music and Artisan Shop until it closed, The Riverstone in Gananoque until it closed, the Wolfe Island Bakery & Café, the Town Coffee Plus in Amherstview, the Christmas Craft Fair on the military base, and finally the Taylor Studios Gallery. Exhibiting my photos has taught me a lot about how to present my work and also a better idea of what people are generally looking for. I am a member of the Kingston Arts Council and the Kingston Photographic Club. You can see part of my portfolio at www.nclphotography.ca and also at http://nicole-couturelord.artistwebsites.com
