The Portsmouth Art Market was an exciting new initiative in Kingston ON in 2017. Kingston has become well known in the region as an art and culture hub and is bustling with activity all summer. Portsmouth is a delightful hamlet within the city, set across from the Olympic Harbour sailing club and the newly re-purposed Kingston Penitentiary, where daily tours are booked solid.

Artfest is excited about continuing and expanding the opportunities for artists to sell their work in Aberdeen Park. The market will be open on Saturdays from 10am-5pm from July 7- August 25, 2018.

Applications are still available for artists and artisans to apply to exhibit in the market. Paintings, photography, pottery, glass, jewellery, clothing, bodycare, gourmet food, woodcrafts etc are all welcome to be part of the program. This is a juried art market, and items must be handmade in Canada. For more information please contact Lory MacDonald at lorymacdonald@gmail.com or call 705-812-2914.

”I must say, who ever came up with the idea to have an artists market at Portsmouth Harbour had a moment of Genius!!!

At first I admit I was nervous about spending $65.00 , plus the fact that it is a new event, not downtown, and I thought we would not get tourists at this location.
Boy was I wrong.

Today I met customers from, Montreal, Cornwall, Ottawa, Gatineau, Whitby, Oshawa, City of Toronto, and Mississauga and several from the United States, can not remember all the different states.
The Park is beautiful. The people who live around the area made a point of mentioning to me, how happy they are that the Art Market is there. Some of them were practically begging me to come back next week. I Don’t see how I could disappoint them, guess I will have to be there every week.

Constant traffic, I was on my feet all day long. Well dressed people with financial means. Seemed to be mostly an educated group who seemed to appreciate the details of my work.

This Art show could turn out to be a real little gem in this location.

I have to tell you also the the gentleman (Neil Shorthouse) you have looking after vendors there is amazing. Very friendly, accommodating, professional. I have never been to an event where the person managing the vendors helped me with taking my tent down. I really felt like he was trying to do everything he could to look after me.

Just all round well run event. In a very beautiful park.”
