Armstrong & Carter Ironworks at Artfest Port Credit!

About the Blacksmiths:

Armstrong and Carter Ironworks is a small artist blacksmithing business owned and operated by Mike Armstrong and Megan Carter.

They both studied artist blacksmithing at Haliburton School of The Arts in 2010. In 2012 they combined their skills and efforts to open their own shop in Georgetown, Ontario. Their work ranges from architectural ironwork to furniture, sculpture, functional tools and copperwork.

Showcasing their one-of-a-kind blacksmithing techniques at Artfest Port Credit from May 29 - 31 - see you all at the show!

 

 

What they do:

Armstrong and Carter Ironworks forges in steel and copper.

They use blacksmith and forming techniques focusing on different types of joinery and fire finishes to create unique and functional forms.

They also incorporate fabric and blown glass into some of their work.

Artist's Thoughts:

"As two young artists living in these modern times we have chosen to go back to the roots of traditional ironworking. We strive to use the traditional tools and techniques of our trade to create unique functional and sculptural pieces for the modern world.
