I often have 'silent mind conversations' with birds. This may be from my mother's (Joan McDonald) passion for bird watching and her excitement when the warblers arrived in the early summer. She kept an ongoing list of sightings, and the giant Birds of North America book was always on the kitchen table. All four of us(kids) were trained to keep a keen eye open, and how to quietly pull out the binoculars to have a closer look. My favorite was the Yellow Throat with it's handsome tiny black mask. When I saw Marilyn's lovely delicate illustrations of these feathered friends, I immediately booked her into the Artfest Toronto at the Distillery Show. Her work is outstanding, and fun too. Whimsical little sayings accompany each piece.
Artfest is very pleased to present Birds with Words to our show August 2-4. Booth # B 3 on Tankhouse Lane.
