Artfest Art Star Program
The Art Star Program is open to Kingston and surrounding area emerging artists age 16-30 years old who are creating handmade items such as pottery, paintings, photography, glass, textiles, jewellery, clothing etc. Applications for 2017 are available now.
Artfest Kingston supports building partnerships in community arts and culture for all ages. The Art Stars program focuses on young artists (16-30 years) who are embarking on their careers. By providing sponsored exhibit space at the show an emerging artist can gain valuable experience and feedback about their work and further the learning process of selling their art work in a public venue.
Artfest is pleased to announce a continued partnership with the Kingston Arts Council (KAC) and the Art Stars Program for 2017. The Kingston Arts Council is excited to support emerging artists at the beginning of their career, offering a chance for the Art Stars exhibitor to share their unique voice with the hundreds of Artfest visitors. Artfest and the Kingston Arts Council further their commitment to foster a strong and supported arts community while creating an environment of growth, vitality and artistic development for emerging artists in both the city of Kingston and the surrounding regions.
The 2016 Artfest Art Stars were:
Samantha Leger, Katie Staples, Rhian Jansen, Emily Rees, Ricarda Forbes, Nikola Sakell.
Ricarda Forbes was selected by the Kingston Arts Council as the 2017 recipient of a sponsored full size exhibit space for this years event.
